Welcome to The Duck Report – a Vegas Entertainment Blog. With our two featured bloggers, Allison Duck and Peter Weisz, as well as an assortment of guest bloggers, we are seeking to give our readers an inside look at the latest and greatest goings on in Vegas.
Our initial picks for the best bets in Las Vegas are now up. Sorry, no gambling advice, it's our list of our favorite restaurants and shows.
Football season is finally here, but where does one watch the games while on the Vegas Strip? It’s a question that should be easy to answer. Every hotel has a sports book; you would think that would be the solution. Unfortunately, a lot of the sports books in this town do not provide an ideal viewing scenario. Old TVs, neck-craning angles, no food. There are definitely some issues that get in the way of enjoying your favorite team’s games. Even a sparkling new book, like Cosmo or Tropicana, with a beautiful multi-screen setup that leaves you drooling suffers from a lack of seating. If you are by yourself, maybe it’s fine but if you are with a group, forget about it.
When my father fixed up an old ‘66 Mustang for me in high school, I got way more than a car. Stuck in the tape deck was a Beach Boy’s tape- the “Endless Summer” album, which also featured music from 1966. This made the gift of the car even more special. When I say the tape was stuck, I mean it was actually stuck. I couldn’t take it out so it was literally the only tape I played in my car for the four or five years I drove it. Occasionally I would strap my big CD player into the passenger’s side but that tended to skip when going over bumps and I really didn’t feel the need to listen to anything other than that one Beach Boys album anyway.

Sugar Factory, the upscale candy shop known for its expensive blinged out lollipops, has opened a restaurant to give you a more well-balanced sugar fix: Sugar Factory American Brasserie. The new outpost, located right on the Strip at Paris Las Vegas, features a candy store as well as a restaurant. When they opened their doors, members of the media were invited to come down and have a meal to test it out.

I recently came across something I thought was pretty cool and could potentially be very useful for people. You can turn your one Gmail address into an unlimited number of addresses all in the same account. No new passwords or log ins to remember. Ready for the simple trick? Just add a + sign at the end of your current name, before the @, and whatever you want to your address, it will still work. As an example, say your current address is example@gmail.com. Now, in addition to that you can be example+demonstration1@gmail.com, example+demonstration2@gmail.com and example+creativeandclever@gmail.com. All those new address will show up in your regular account.
With the help of Case Keefer, reporter for Las Vegas Sun, and UFC fan Lewis Harrison, these were the songs we were able to identify from the fighters at UFC 129. Check out my music blog on LasVegasSun.com for more on my take on the fighters’ walk out choices.

A source of ours let slip plans for Señor Frog’s to sign a deal to bring their establishment to Treasure Island. The restaurant and bar has been a popular party spot in tourist destinations across Mexico, the U.S. and the Caribbean. Treasure Island already features two party bars in Kahunaville and Gilley’s, and a Mexican restaurant in Isla. [more]
I came to the realization that I have seen a lot of celebrity boobs after nearly six years in Las Vegas. Perhaps the most impressive pair belongs to Claire Sinclair, performing this week at Crazy Horse Paris at the MGM Grand. When I saw her last night, I remembered thinking her doctor had done a really amazing job. I now know, after speaking with a co-worker who recently interviewed her, that they are 100% real! Even more impressive.
I’ve never paid much attention to my eyebrows. I tweeze a little here and there but I’ve never done waxing or threading. Frankly, that stuff seems expensive and a waste if I can just do it myself with some tweezers. When I heard there was a new treading shop coming to town, I decided I should probably get on board and try this new fad everyone seems to go nuts about.
I’ve never had to fight men off of my boyfriend at a show. Nor have I ever entered a phone booth only to discover a whole new world on the other side. That all changed when I saw Absinthe this weekend at Caesars Palace.
Photo by Loly Ahern I’m intrigued by anything with a gratuitous exclamation point it its name. There’s Vegas! The Show at the Saxe Theater and now Piano! Las Vegas at the V Theater. I knew I had to go investigate and see what the “!” was all about.
I have been wondering what “Defending the Caveman” was all about for quite some time now. Touted as the “longest running one man show on Broadway,” I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. How could a show with no costume changes, set changes or a cast over the number of one be that entertaining?
Live poker is painful. Well, actually I normally enjoy live poker. So maybe I’m a masochist or maybe NASCAR weekend at the MGM was just atrocious for me. I’m leaning towards the latter. I play enough poker to know you can go card dead for a few hundred hands in a row fairly easily. When you are multi-tabling online, you can get through that stretch in 20 minutes, no big deal. That same stretch live can and did take up my whole weekend and was a boatload of pain. Arg.
Sorry for the lack of updates recently. The Duck Report had a staycation on the Strip last weekend and right now we are about to head to San Diego for a vacation. We'll be back to blogging next week, but in the meantime, enjoy some great flair bartending footage from Kanuhaville's The Big Kahuna 3 Flair Smackdown.
Hi guys. So there have been a few frustrating things happening to The Duck Report recently. First off, we lost our Google ads. I don’t know why. My guess is some over zealous fan of the report clicked on our ads a few too many times. I have no control over that. I would figure the logical thing for Google to do when such an occurrence happens, would be just to disqualify what it deems errant clicks. But instead of doing that, they took our account away entirely. It’s total BS if you ask me.
Getting ready for some dry nail polish Ladies, is there anything more annoying than shelling out money for a manicure and having it chip right away? Seriously, manicures have to be the biggest waste of money yet something so many women love, and rightfully so as a set of nicely painted nails really makes you look put together. I love the pink and white French manicure- which is much more difficult to do to yourself and always costs more at a salon. I have tried everything from the stickers to help you paint the tips properly to the white nail polish pens and nothing has looked as good as a professional manicure but I hate how they never last very long.
